Broken Beau Pioneer Village Museum

Established in 1967, the Pioneer Village Museum recreates a small rural Manitoba community in the early 1900s. Housed within the grounds is a home, railway station, barbershop, blacksmith shop, school, community hall, and store, just to name a few. most of the pioneers of this region were of Polish, Ukrainian, or German descent, coming from the areas known as Galicia and Volhynia. These pioneers had to face many hardships in carving out the wilderness and learning to adapt to a new way of life. Many artifacts depicting the lifestyle of the early pioneers of the surrounding area are located in these buildings.

Common Threads Quilt Group

The Common Threads Quilt Group meets on scheduled Monday evenings at the St. James Anglican Church at 503 Park Avenue, in Beausejour, Manitoba for 7 PM - 9 PM. An old fashioned quilting bee meant getting together with neighbours and friends to create a quilt for a couple getting married or a new baby on the way. As a quilt was being made, bonds of friendship would be formed. Since September 2006 a group of ladies have been meeting to teach, learn and share their love of quilting with each other. Everyone is welcome regardless of age and skill level. The group was formed after several local ladies found that they had a common interest when attending the St. James Anglican Church Annual Quilt show. The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is an Aboriginal Theological and Ministry Training Program of the United Church of Canada that prepares Aboriginal people for lay and ordered ministry by affirming a style of leadership appropriate to Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal church experience, and developing and testing curricula and models to uphold this style of learning including theological education by extension programs. The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre also offers continuing education programs and cross-cultural awareness workshops that can be customized for any group. School groups, faith communities and learners of all ages are invited to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal culture in a setting that fosters teachings of respect, healing and connectedness. Retreat centre with meeting rooms for up to 50 people, accommodation for 20-28 people. A hall for meetings or social functions as well there are guest cabins for overnight accommodations. The Sandy -Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is located on 36 peaceful acres of wooded parkland beside the Brokenhead River, one mile East of Beausejour.
