Location/Market Access/Transportation

The Town of Beausejour sits within the heart of the Rural Municipality of  Brokenhead and is situated 46 kilometres north east of Winnipeg along PTH No. 44. Beausejour is in the forefront of commercial and industrial expansion in Eastern Manitoba and also serves as a gateway to Whiteshell Provincial Park, where you will fi nd some of Manitoba’s best vacation lands.

Beausejour-Brokenhead is located just 80 kilometres from CentrePort –  Manitoba’s major transportation and distribution artery providing direct connection to the Mid-Continental Trade Corridor.

LOCAL TRADE ZONE

The Beausejour-Brokenhead Trade Zone includes the communities of Anola, Elma, Garson, Lac du Bonnet, Oakbank, Pinawa, Seddons Corner, Seven Sisters, Ste Rita, Tyndall and Whitemouth. Total population within the Local Trade Zone is 15,000.

Transportation

Due to its central location, Manitoba’s Mid Continental Trade & Transportation Corridor connects 100 million people across North America. Beausejour-Brokenhead is just 75 minutes from Centre Port – the only inland port in the country to provide business with single-window access to FTZ benefi ts, access to tri-modal transportation and a gateway to key markets in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Roads

The Beausejour-Brokenhead region is located 50 km from Winnipeg via Provincial Truck Highway No. 44 (RTAC); 170 km from the United States 24-hour Port of Entry at Emerson/Pembina via PTH No. 75 (RTAC); and 60km from Trans Canada Highway No. 1. Goods produced within this region can be easily transported anywhere in the world.

  • Provincial Trunk Highways 75 and 59 South link with the U.S. National Highway System in North Dakota and Minnesota respectively, providing access to the U.S. transportation corridor Interstate highway system via I-29 and I-35. Goods can be transported by truck from Canada to Mexico and all points in between.
  • PTH No. 75 is twinned to the U.S. border.
  • Major border crossings to the U.S. are open 24-hours per day. An automated border crossing station at Emerson, MB, offers standard wait times of 10 minutes or less.
  • Border compliance information is available through the Canada Border Services Agency at www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
  • Approximately 75% of Manitoba’s trade merchandise with U.S. is shipped by truck.
  • An estimated 360,000 commercial trucks crossed the Manitoba – U.S. border in 2013.

Air

Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport is located less than one hour from the Town of Beausejour.
Being developed adjacent to the northwest boundary of Richardson International Airport is CenterPort Canada, a 20,000 acre island port that offers greenfi eld investment opportunities for distribution centers, warehousing and manufacturing. Center Port Canada will allow companies to take advantage of the leading cargo capabilities of Richardson International Airport.

Rail

Beausejour-Brokenhead is located 45 minutes from the city of Winnipeg that is centrally located on the main lines of the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) and Canadian Pacifi c (CP) railway networks. CN and CP are both continental carriers who operate a combined 2,439 miles of track within Manitoba.

  • Winnipeg has access to the world’s largest market CN, CP and BNSF Manitoba, providing service to the U.S. and Mexico;

  • Buffalo, NY and Washington, DC;
  • CN offers connection to Canada and mid America to Gulf of Mexico.

Sea

The port of Churchill – at 1,465 km north of Beausejour-Brokenhead – provides Manitoba with a unique distinction among the Prairie Provinces: direct access to the sea and providing open routes to European and world markets. Churchill can be reached by rail, air and sea.

  • the only deep-water ocean port in the prairie region;
  • July – November shipping season;
  • four deep-sea berths for loading and unloading grain, general cargo and tanker vessels;
  • able to accommodate Panama class vessels (approx: 70,000 tons capacity);
  • rail access by Hudson Bay and CN Rail to most North American points;
  • throughput capacity of over 1 million tons of grain per season;
  • grain constitutes 90% of Port’s current traffi c.
